Severe Dry Eyes from LASIK surgery. Get relief from TheraLife

pink eyes from methsofhealing.com

It has been known LASIK surgery for vision correction can induce severe dry eyes even after many years.  This is because cutting of the cornea resulted in uneven cornea surfaces, especially if the person has dry eyes to begin with.  The friction of an uneven cornea creates inflammation every time you blink.  Inflammation shuts down the tear secretion glands, creating more dry eyes.  This becomes a vicious cycle of inflammation and dry eyes.

Blepharitis is a condition caused by inflammation of the conjunctiva or meibomian- this should not be confused with Meibomian Gland Dysfunction where Meibomian Glands may be clogged.

TheraLife Eye relief dry eyes and blepharitis by restoring normal cell functions to tear secretion glands and reduce inflammation to achieve long lasting relief.

Here is my personal story:
"I hesitated to order these pills because of the cost and disappointment with other products. I'm so glad I gave this a try. I had dry eyes before LASIK surgery in 2007 and was still told I was a good candidate. After LASIK, two eye doctors diagnosed me with chronic blepharitis and age-related dry eye syndrome. I was miserable and all I could think of was how dry, red and painful my eyes were ALL THE TIME! I was on prescription eye drops that is suppose to reduce inflammation and on an antibiotic drop called Azasite. Both are very expensive. I started with the recommended four capsules of Theralife Enhanced twice a day. I had a lot of intestinal gas for a few days, and still have some, but taking the pills after meals and reducing the dosage to two twice a day after my symptoms were gone really helps. I still can't believe I have such total relief and I am so grateful for Theralife Enhanced. I very rarely use the lubricating eye drops I relied on before."

Allergy Meidcations Can Lead to Dry Eyes and Glaucoma.

The number of people has allergies or asthma is one in five!

Allergy patients can present themselves with itchy, red, watery and dry eyes. They often complain of having a constant cold.  Chronic dry eye is often associated with ocular allergy.  Want to know what medications are prescribed and how the doctors diagnose ocular allergies and more?  Read on - - - -

Allergy in the United States is very common and is considered a systemic condition that is treatable.  About one third of the patients who has allergies are not aware they have this condition.  Patients who suspect they suffer from allergies usually first visit their family practitioner, who may refer them to an allergist. These patients often end up taking an oral systemic medication, and treatment often leads to chronic dry eye, glaucoma and more eye issues.

Why your allergist and eye doctors should work as a team.

Although allergy also affects the eyes, systemic antihistamines are partially effective at alleviating ocular symptoms (e.g. itching and redness), and they have also been shown to contribute to secondary dry eye problems. Allergists and general practitioners tend to lack slit lamps, which can provide more information regarding ocular health. Optometrists and ophthalmologist are an integral care to both identify and manage ocular surface problems.

Many of your optometrists or ophthalmologists can refer you to an allergist. They should work as an integral team for this wide spread problem.

What kind of symptoms do allergy patients exhibit?

Patients, who have allergies, though don't know it, often have this symptom:
  1. Recurrent cold” that occurs around the same time every year,
  2. Profound Itchy- how this is different than dry eye.
Exhibit a papillary conjunctiva reaction that is not always present in patients who have dry eye – they will complain of profound itching. “You can have some level of itching with dry eye, but its hallmarks are more the foreign body sensation, grittiness, discomfort and reflex tearing. And usually with allergy, there is more redness in the eye.”
  3. Lower lids may reveal dark half circles. This swelling and discoloration is indicative of allergy.
  4. Constantly rubbing nose up and down.
Allergy and Glaucoma:

Allergists are aware that some allergy medications can cause the pupil to dilate and prompt angle-closure attacks in patients who have very narrow angles or undiagnosed angle-closure glaucoma, building up intra-ocular pressure.

Allergy and Chronic Dry Eyes.

Many of these patients and those patients being treated for systemic allergies are at risk for concomitant dry eye, as several OTC drugs contain preservatives that put patients at risk for this condition.  During the patient exam, the eye doctor can be on the lookout for any signs of ocular dryness, via slit lamp exam.

Tips for Dry Eye Relief and Workplace Stress

Workplace stress can cause changes in your body, your emotions , and induce chronic dry eyes.  Many of the familiar symptoms are:
  • Dry Eyes
  • Headache
  • Fatigue – feeling tired
  • Stiff Neck and Shoulder Pain
  • Back Pain
  • Sweaty Palms and Feet
  • Upset stomach
  • Depression
Chronic stress left untreated can lead to serious long term illnesses and decreased immune systems.  Some of these examples are:
  • chronic dry eye syndrome
  • heart diseases
  • chronic muscle pains
  • changes in hormone levels that lead to low fertility
  • weakening lung functions leading to catching colds and flu’s more easily,
  • asthma
  • obstructive lung diseases
  • worsening of skin problems like acne, eczema and psoriasis
Relationship between stress and dry eyes are well documented.

We can understand this phenomena from how stress affects the circulatory system (How Does Stress Affect the Circulatory System. By Adrian Whittle). Stress causes the blood to produce hormones that increase the blood flow (increase blood pressure) and make blood thicker (causing strokes). As the heart is working harder, the micro-circulation of blood to the extremities such as skin, legs, and arms are decreased.
This decrease in blood supply may also include the brain and eyes. Eyes being connected to the brain already has a delicate blood circulation balance. Under stress, blood supply to the brain and eyes are both compromised, causing dry eyes.  Left untreated, this condition can become chronic.

Watery Eyes Can Be Caused By Dry Eyes- TheraLife Can Help

A large percentage of Watery Eyes can be caused by dry eyes- Read on.

Irritated Dry Eyes cause inflammation which in turn cause dry eye symptoms such as dry, irritable, sandy gritty, light sensitive, burning, blurry visions and more.  Eye drops often make the dry eyes worse.  Your brain starts to secrete Reflex Tears ( the tear you cry with)  in an attempt to lubricate your eyes.  This Reflex Tear is of poor quality- evaporates quickly, and thus cause your eyes to water even more.

How Can TheraLife Help?

To treat watery eyes caused by dry eyes, we first must relief and restore your tear secretion glands to produce normal balanced tears.  Once you experience dry eye relief, then your tear will eventually stop over production.  Watery dry eyes are harder to treat, and thus will take longer.

Here is a is a personal story from a TheraLife user:

"I have suffered for many years with severe watery and painful eyes.  Nothing I ever tried had worked.  I visited many eye specialists who told me to wash my eyes with salt solution and use various eye drops which only appeared to aggravate my eyes even more! I  am so pleased to have found Theralife. Initially I took TheraLife Eye capsules at 8 capsules per day for 2 months. Now I  have been taking 4 capsules a day now for about 2 years plus the Omega 3 Fish Oil.  This have made a huge difference to my dry eye problem. I don’t use eye drops anymore. I clean my eyelids thoroughly twice a day in the morning and evening to prevent blepharitis recurrence.  I am so delighted with Theralife Eye. Thank you again for your personal care and response. Yours sincerely

Allergies and Dry Eyes- Tips for Relief from TheraLife

Allergy Dry Eyes

Spring is here and many of us are bothered by allergies, watery eyes, runny nose, headaches.  If you have dry eyes, you may experience worse symptoms.

For those already on TheraLife Eye, take additional capsules, TheraLife Eye has ingredients to combat mild to moderate allergies.  If needed, take either Claritin or Zertac- these are longer acting but less drying than the conventional anti-histmaines like Sudafed.

About 30 -50%  of the people who live in United States have allergy symptoms.  Nearly 75 % of those allergy symptoms affect the eyes.  In other parts of the world where the weather is dry, dusty and pollution is high, this statistics may even be higher.  Allergies can trigger other problems, such as conjunctivitis -pink eye(see section on red eyes) and asthma.

Symptoms of Dry Eyes and Allergy are often confused due to their similarities. For patients with existing dry eye conditions, allergies during spring and fall where pollen count is high become even more severe.

Some of the common symptoms are:
  • Red, swollen or itchy eyes – similar to dry eye symptoms
  • Runny nose; sneezing; coughing
  • Itchy nose, mouth or throat
  • Headache from sinus congestion
  • Fatigue from lack of sleep.
Allergy in additional to dry eyes often are presented with stronger symptoms of dry; itchy; red and watery eyes.  Itchy eyes are normally a result from allergy rather than classical dry eye conditions.  Some people have both symptoms all year around.

TheraLifeâ Eye Enhanced has natural botanical ingredients that relieve both Dry Eyes and Allergy Eyes.

Causes of Allergy Dry Eyes

Most allergens (agents that elicit allergy symptoms) are airborne. They come in contact with your eyes and nose. Airborne allergens include pollen, mold, dust and pet dander (cats and dogs in particular).  Some allergens like dust mites are embedded into carpets, drapery, bedding and window visors.  In that case, the allergens are triggering allergy and dry eyes all year round.
Conventional Treatments for Allergy Dry Eyes:
  • The most common treatment for allergy is anti-histamines for quick relief.   However anti-histamines cause dehydration, sleepiness, sometimes dizziness, and often are the causes for Dry Eyes.

  • Decongestant eye drops-, which constricts blood vessels in your eye to take the red out.  Long-term use can cause your eyes to become dependent on these eye drops, and when you stop, the blood vessels become even larger, making red eyes worse.
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drops can sooth allergy eyes (e.g. Patanol).  Its effect is longer term than anti-histamines.  It is effective in treating allergy eyes, but not dry eyes.
  • Prescription steroidal eye drops provide quick relief.  However, long term use have been associated with side effects such as increased inner  eye pressure(intraocular pressure) leading to glaucoma and damage to optic nerve. Steroids also have been known to cause cataracts. Prescription steroid eye drops are normally used for very severe cases and no longer than one month.

1. TheraLife Eye Enhanced?

TheraLife Autoimmune for Sjogren's with Knee Joint Pain Relief

Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder where my own body is attacking the moisture secretion glands all over my body.  This includes eyes, nose, mouth, lungs, vaginal areas.  In addition, another autoimmune disease can co-exist such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Raynaud's, Fibromyalgia and more.

Read my personal story:

I have been on TheraLife Autoimmune for 3 months now.  The dry eye continues to improve.  The biggest miracle of all with Theralife Autoimmune is that my very painful right knee continues to improve. I have two kinds of arthritis, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid . Last year the pain was so bad that I could barely walk, my husband had to get the groceries.  After taking the Theralife Autoimmune for about 3 months for my dry eye condition, I began to notice that my knee felt better. Now I am close to walking normally.  The knee improvement started after having taken TheraLife for 3 months. I was using a cane and now I don't need it, I am just amazed I was not expecting this wonderful added benefit. Thank you so much.

Diets for Autoimmune Sjogren's, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus and More

Inflammation is a major component of most diseases, including Sjogren’s syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus,  and more.

One of the first ways to address this is through an anti-inflammatory diet.  This approach to treatment focuses on eating a diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods.

To start you on the road to success.   Start your morning with a smoothy made with high fiber vegetables.  You may add a few fresh fruits for flavor.  You will be surprised how good you feel!
  • Avoiding spicy foods
  • Avoiding refined sugar
  • Avoiding alcohol and wine
  • Avoiding caffeine
  • Avoiding gluten if you also have celiac disease.
In General – These rules are helpful

A.   Avoid most packaged food with a long list of ingredients- most of all, preservatives.
B.   When preparing foods, select raw, fresh, steamed or broiled options over fried, barbecued or highly processed foods.

Foods to Avoid:
  • For Sjogren's patients, there are a number of foods to avoid. The first food to leave out of diet are milk and all other dairy products. Often, people do not realize that many of our foods are made from milk and other dairy products. Avoid consuming milk, cheese, ice cream, yogurt and all creams and sauces made of milk or cheese. Also consider diminishing or avoiding altogether any foods or recipes that call for milk or cheese, including macaroni and pizza. Another important item to leave off of a diet for Sjogren's is wheat, including any pasta or breads made from wheat products. In addition, avoid any foods made of or containing gluten. It is important to read all labels carefully, as many products contain gluten for texture.
Foods to Eat:
  • The most ideal diet for Sjogren's is to eat only natural and whole non-processed foods. This can get quite expensive, especially for people living far from a major city where these foods can be purchased. The next best thing to do is to eat an abundance of fresh vegetables and fruits. These provide basic nutrients and antioxidents that fight cell damage. Include low-fat foods in the diet, including lean meat, fish, white chicken, beans, nuts and soy products. In addition, add foods high in complex carbohydrates including fresh fruit, vegetables and breads.
Avoid Certain Food Additives
  • The main goal with Sjogren's is to avoid any food or additive that can further dehydrate the body. Some of the herbs or additives that can be irritating are cayenne pepper, red pepper and horseradish. Also avoid any foods that are spicy, such as chili. Usually Mexican and Indian foods have a lot of added spices such as cayenne and red pepper, so it would also be best to avoid these. These foods and spices can dry out the saliva glands.
Proper Hydration
  • As Sjogren's depletes the moisture-producing glands and areas of the body, keeping hydrated is extremely important. The first thing to avoid is caffeine in the form of teas, colas and coffees, because caffeine tends to dehydrate the body. Water is the best beverage to drink, and eight glasses should be consumed a day. Fruits and vegetables high in water content are also useful to hydrate the body. Some of these foods include watermelon, peaches, tomatoes and cucumbers.

TheraLife Eye Autoimmune formula is fortified with
